Lords: (Dunya News) In the final of the ICC World Test Championship, South Africa defeated Australia by 5 wickets to claim the title.

First Innings Highlights:

The Kangaroos scored 212 runs in their first innings, in response to which South Africa was bowled out for 138 runs.

Australia’s Second Innings:

Australia began their second innings with a lead of 74 runs and were all out for 207 runs in 65 overs.


Day 4:

On the fourth day at the historic Lord’s Stadium, the South African innings resumed. Captain Temba Bavuma was dismissed early after adding just one more run to his overnight score, finishing with 66 runs. Shortly after, Tristan Stubbs was also dismissed for 8 runs.

A partnership of 35 runs between Aiden Markram and David Bedingham was built for the fourth wicket. However, Markram was dismissed after a brilliant 136-run innings, which included several boundaries. David Bedingham remained not out on 21.


Day 3:

On the third day of the final, Australia resumed their innings at 144 for 8. Early in the day, Nathan Lyon was the first to fall, scoring only 2 runs. Josh Hazlewood scored 17 runs before being dismissed, while Mitchell Starc remained not out on 58. Australia had a 281-run overall lead at this point.

For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada and Aiden Markram took one wicket each.


Day 2:

On the second day, South Africa resumed their innings at 4 wickets down, and their batters appeared much more confident than the previous day. A solid 64-run partnership between Captain Temba Bavuma and David Bedingham gave the Proteas some hope.

However, at a total of 94 runs, Bavuma was dismissed for 36 by Pat Cummins, triggering a collapse. South Africa’s batting lineup couldn’t resist the Aussie attack much longer and were all out for just 138 runs.

Australia’s Pat Cummins delivered a devastating spell, taking 6 wickets for 28 runs. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood claimed 2 and 1 wicket, respectively.

Later, by the end of day two, Australia had scored 144 runs for 8 wickets in their second innings. Alex Carey top-scored with 43 runs, while Rabada was the pick of the South African bowlers with 3 wickets.

At this stage, Australia had a total lead of 218 runs with 2 wickets remaining.


Day 1:

In the final of the World Test Championship at Lord’s, South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to field first.

For Australia, Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne opened the innings. However, Khawaja was dismissed without scoring, and Labuschagne was out for 17. Coming in at number three, Cameron Green scored just 4 runs, while Travis Head managed only 11.

Australia lost their fifth wicket at a total of 146, with Steve Smith scoring 66 runs. Beau Webster scored 72, and Alex Carey contributed 23 runs. Mitchell Starc and Captain Pat Cummins scored 1 run each, while Nathan Lyon was dismissed for a duck.

For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada took 5 wickets, and Marco Jansen claimed 3. Keshav Maharaj and Aiden Markram picked up one wicket each.

In response, the Proteas started poorly and were 43 for 4, still trailing by 169 runs. Ryan Rickelton (16), Wiaan Mulder (6), Tristan Stubbs, and Aiden Markram (both for 0) were dismissed early.

For Australia, Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets, while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took 1 wicket each.
