PM Shehbaz Sharif directs swift completion of IT training and ecosystem projects, aiming to train youth nationwide and boost Pakistan’s digital development.

Prime Minister Focuses on IT Training and Youth Empowerment
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities to speed up all initiatives related to IT sector training in Pakistan. He also emphasized improving the overall ecosystem for IT learning and development. A specific timeline has been set for the implementation of these projects to ensure timely completion.
Meeting on IT Education and Training Ecosystem
A high-level meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, discussed youth training in the IT sector. The meeting also reviewed ways to enhance the digital training environment across Pakistan. Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, and other senior officials attended the session.
During the meeting, officials shared that Pakistan is developing a modern IT training system. The terms of reference for hiring consultancy firms are also being finalized. Moreover, they reported that 20,000 students have already been trained in IT skills through collaboration with Huawei.
Global Success and Ongoing Efforts
Interestingly, Pakistani students recently won the top three positions globally in three IT categories, outperforming 200,000 participants from around the world. The Prime Minister congratulated these students for bringing pride to the nation.
Furthermore, efforts are in progress to train 80,000 more students through the partnership between the Higher Education Commission and Huawei. Online classes are being extended not only to major cities but also to remote regions, including Balochistan.
Expanding Digital Learning Across Pakistan
In addition, a target has been set to train 50,000 instructors in modern technology across Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad. The government also plans to include 300,000 students in IT and artificial intelligence programs at the bachelor’s level.
During the upcoming summer break, around 146,000 students will receive IT training through a collaboration involving the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the Ministry of Information Technology, and Huawei. Under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, 2,000 students will also receive specialized training in modern IT courses to make them more employable.
Vision for a Digital Pakistan
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged officials to take concrete steps to implement all IT initiatives without delay. He emphasized that Pakistani youth must be equipped with modern technological skills to compete globally. According to him, this initiative marks a major step toward Pakistan’s digital transformation.
Finally, the Prime Minister highlighted that skilled youth can drive local innovation, boost employment, and position Pakistan as a regional IT hub with a sustainable and modern digital system.
