“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities to expedite the completion of all initiatives related to IT sector training and improvement of the ecosystem for training programs in Pakistan, with a specific timeline set for their implementation. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss youth training in the IT sector and improvement of the training ecosystem in Pakistan. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema and Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman Higher Education Commission, and other senior officials. The meeting was briefed that a system for modern IT training is being developed in Pakistan, and the terms of reference for hiring consultancy firms are being finalized. It was also informed that 20,000 students have been trained in IT skills through collaboration with Huawei, and recently, Pakistani students won top three positions globally in three IT categories, outshining 200,000 participants worldwide. The Prime Minister congratulated the students who won the competition, bringing pride to Pakistan. The meeting was informed that efforts are underway to train 80,000 more students through collaboration between the Higher Education Commission and Huawei, with online classes being provided not only in major cities but also in remote areas, including Balochistan. A target has been set to train 50,000 trainers in modern technology and current requirements in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad. The Prime Minister was informed that 300,000 students will be trained in IT through inclusion in bachelor’s programs and artificial intelligence initiatives. During the summer break, 146,000 children will receive IT training through collaboration between the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Ministry of Information Technology, and Huawei. Under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, 2,000 students will be trained in modern IT courses to make them employable. Shahbaz Sharif directed the authorities to take concrete steps to implement the project as soon as possible, enabling Pakistani youth to excel globally in the IT sector. This initiative is seen as a significant step towards Pakistan’s digital development. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to equip youth with modern IT training to drive local change, ensure employment opportunities, and make Pakistan a hub in the region with a sustainable and modern IT system.”
